Tour around Lake Constance
Switzerland - Germany- Austria
12th - 13th of October 2013

Lake Constance is bordered by three countries, and occupies an extremely beautiful corner of Central Europe. Only two hours away from the Lechvalley it is an ideal destination for a relaxing short break. The shoreline is shared between Germany, Switzerland and Austria near the Alps. This Central European lake boasts much history, baroque churches, great winerys, small exquisite towns and is also the home of the Zeppelins.
Places we will visit during our trip:
Friedrichshafen, famous for the Zeppelin airships. In the late 1800’s Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, developed a rigid airship powered by gas, although Zeppelins dream ended when the Hindenburg exploded in New Jersey, there are still Zeppelins produced and used in this little town. A visit to the interesting Zeppelin Museum is a must.
Unteruhldingen: Open-Air Pfahlbauten is a collection of reconstructed Stone and Bronze Age lake dwellings, which will take us back to prehistoric times.
Meersburg a real medieval jewel, will be our lodging place for the trip. You will have time to stroll along the café-lined waterfront with superb views, and maybe taste one of the good wines from the towns winery.
Lindau, maybe the most beautiful little town of the lake, will of couse also be visited by us on the tour, as well as the famous rococo pilgrimage church of Birnau - overlooking the lake on the hills above Überlingen.

Included: 1 overnight with breakfast and dinner, travelling by bus with a courier, visit to the above mentioned places.
At least 10 participants necessary.

Non-Carvers-Programm
6th to 20th / 27th of October 2013

For the non-carving people accompanying, we as always, offer a programme with some exciting tours and other fun stuff in the surrounding area.

Each week we will make 2 excursions to interesting places near the school. They will all take place in the afternoon.
Several small venues are waiting for us to explore. A visit to a cheesery, a glass etching workshop, a trip up the mountain, a herb walk and the  cooking of something special from Austria, with our chef Hilde, are all possible programme points.

If more participants are interested in a visit to one of the castles “Neu Schwanstein” or “Linderhof” built by King Ludwig of Bavaria, we will be glad to organize that as well. (not included to the price)

For the free days, there will of course also be enough time to relax or to do other things like hiking, Nordic Walking (poles are provided), rent a bike for the lovely roads along the river Lech etc.. Please also note the opportunity to book treatments in the Spa of the comfortable Hotel Alpenrose next to the school – so don't forget your swimming costume.

Of course also the tour to the Lake Constance on the 12th and 13th of October together with the carvers is included in this package.
