Language difficulties? Don’t worry! Our classes are always bilingual. Most weeks English-speaking students attend classes. In addition we have several special weeks during 2012, with an emphasis on English-speaking participants. Traditionally many English and American carvers return year after year to attend courses.
1 week - full day or half day course - Option A
We offer instruction in all aspects of woodcarving and sculpting, for all abilities, from beginners to advanced students. You will be encouraged to either copy a carving from the 500 pieces at the School or you can practice your own ideas according to your individual interest and skill. You may choose to work from a block or a rough-out
and your tutor will help you to achieve a good result.Figure carving

Theory:
During your course our special theory teacher will give instruction in the various important aspects of woodcarving and sculpting which includes preparing wood, sharpening tools, modelling, drawing, the anatomy of the human body, form and proportions and finishing your work. Theory and practical are taught in parallel. All this tuition is included in the regular course fee and can be done on a need to know basis.
Weekly schedule for the full day course:
Sun 18.00 meet your tutor for the week.
Mon to Fri 08.30 –12.00 and 13.30 to 18.00
Sat 08.30 –12.00
Afternoon tea and coffee 15.30 –16.00

Sunday 18.00 meet your tutor for the week
Mon to Sat 08.30 - 12.00

On the dates listed below we have specialist English speaking tutors. We encourage you to attend these weeks as the more people we can get to come at one time the cheaper the transfer costs will be. Traditionally many carvers from all over the world return to attend our courses during these weeks, which gives this time a lovely international flavour. During these weeks there will also be the opportunity to finish your carving with wax, stain or watercolours at the end of your course.

Antique painting and gilding1 Week - full day course - Option B
Learn how to gild and paint figures and carvings the classic way. The gilding involves 26 operations and you will be taken through these, step by step. This is a learning process. You will usually finish one piece of normal size by the end of the week… Our intention is that you will be trained and given sufficient information to be able to continue working on your own at home.

Wood Turning1 Week - full day course - Option C
For many weeks in 2012 we will offer wood turning courses. There are different themes to choose from. Some are: spindle turning, turning in wet wood, hollow turning and many more. Learn new techniques, try new tools and develop your skills.

Please note that for all prices mentioned the EURO is basis of calculation! For all payments the exchange rate of the day will be used. For calculation purposes, in this brochure, we have used the following rates:
1 Euro = 1,30 USD, 1 Euro = 0,85 GBP
Arrival and Departure day is Sunday (or Saturday) – other times on request.
Transportation: From Munich Airport to Elbiginalp to Munich Airport the transfer prices are between 90 and 250 Euros per person depending on how many individuals arrive or leave at the same time. We recommend you arrive at the airport before lunch and depart after noon. Please consult the office before confirming your flight booking.
For guest who prefere to go by train and bus by themselves, we will of course be glad to help you in making your travelling plans.
